Should you replace your G430 LST Fairway with the PING G440 LST Fairway?

The G440 LST exists as a 5-wood and the G430 LST never did. PING lists the G430 LST in one loft only — 15°, the 3-wood. The G440 LST is listed in 15° and 19°, a 3 and a 5. If what you want is a low-spin 5-wood, that is not an upgrade, it is a club that did not exist in the previous generation.

The head also grew, and not by a little: 169 cc to 190 cc, both numbers straight off PING's own spec pages. That is a 12% larger head on the model PING positions as its lowest-spinning fairway. A bigger head is a different shape at address, not a published distance claim, and PING makes no distance claim we can quote.

Everything a fitter would check next is unchanged. Both are 43" at the 3-wood, both sit at 56° lie, both carry the same ±1.5° adjustable hosel, both come right and left handed. The stock shaft menu was refreshed — ALTA CB Black 65 and HZRDUS Smoke Red on the G430, ALTA CB Blue 65 and Project X Denali Red on the G440 — but each has nine no-upcharge options, so neither is the restricted one.

Neither page publishes a movable weight, so that row is empty on both sides rather than filled with a guess.

PING publishes no price on its own site — every fairway page shows $0.00 and routes you to a fitter — so we can't tell you what either cost new, and we won't quote a retailer's number as if it were PING's.

Our read: keep the G430 LST unless you specifically want the 19° head. The extra 21 cc is a shape change you should hit before you pay for; the 5-wood is the only thing here you cannot get from the club you own.
