Five cubic centimetres and a new shaft menu. That is the whole difference. PING lists the G430 SFT fairway at 188 cc and the G440 SFT at 193 cc. Everything a fitter measures is identical: 16°, 19° and 22° in both, labelled 3, 5 and 7; 43" long; 56.5° lie; the same ±1.5° adjustable hosel; right and left handed.
SFT means the same thing on both — PING's draw-biased fairway — and PING publishes no draw-bias figure on either page that we could compare. Neither page lists a movable weight, so that row is empty on both sides rather than filled with an assumption.
What did change is the stock shaft list, and only in which models are on it. Nine no-upcharge options on each. The G430 SFT offers ALTA CB Black 65, Tour 2.0 Chrome and Black in 65 and 75, Kai'li White 70, HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX in 60 and 70, and ALTA Quick. The G440 SFT swaps in ALTA CB Blue 65, Tensei 1K Black 75 and Denali Red in 60 and 70. Same number of choices, same weight range, different labels.
PING publishes no price on its own site — every fairway page shows $0.00 and sends you to a fitter — so we cannot tell you what either cost new, and we will not quote a retailer's number in its place.
Our read: keep the G430 SFT. Same lofts, same length, same lie, same hosel, same number of shafts. Five cubic centimetres is not a reason to buy a fairway wood.
