Should you replace your TSR1 Hybrid with the Titleist GT1 Hybrid?

Same four lofts, $30 more, and Titleist stops publishing whether the hosel adjusts. The TSR1 hybrid and the GT1 hybrid are both listed in 20°, 23°, 26° and 29°. Both are 40.5" long. Both are built right and left handed. Titleist published $299 for the TSR1 hybrid and publishes $329 for the GT1 hybrid.

The hosel is the line to read twice. Titleist lists the TSR1 hybrid with an adjustable hosel. On the GT1 hybrid it does not publish one either way — not a yes, not a no. On a club in the ultralight, moderate-speed slot, where getting the loft right is most of the fitting, that is a gap the buyer has to close with a fitter. We are not going to fill it from a forum post.

What Titleist does add on the GT1 hybrid is a movable weight, which the TSR1 hybrid page does not list. It is a weight rather than a track, so it is a fitting adjustment, not something you change during a round.

Head volume is published on one side only: 138 cc for the GT1 hybrid, nothing for the TSR1. Lie moves slightly, 57.0° to 57.5°. The stock shaft changes from a Mitsubishi MMT SpeedMesh 50 HY to a Fujikura Air Speeder Next Gen 50 — same weight class, different profile.

On performance, Titleist claims roughly 5 percent more MOI for the GT1 hybrid than the TSR1 it replaces, and calls the GT1 the highest-launching hybrid it makes. That is the brand's number about its own product. Five percent MOI is small enough that you should treat it as a design note, not a result.

Our read: $30 for a movable weight and a claimed 5 percent MOI, on a club that otherwise matches the one you own loft for loft and inch for inch. Keep the TSR1 hybrid. If you are buying new anyway, the GT1's weight and the launch claim make it the reasonable pick — but check the hosel at the fitting, because Titleist does not tell you.
