What goes into the number

Hardware, subscription and consumable prices come from each maker's official store (labeled Fact). Anything that depends on how much you play is our estimate, and you can change it above.

Years in the calculation: 5 Our rule
We compare every launch monitor over the same five years so subscriptions and consumables count, not just the sticker price.
Dozens of special balls per year: 2 GolfCheck estimate
No manufacturer publishes how fast marked or RPT balls wear out. We assume two dozen a year for someone practicing indoors a couple of times a week. Change it to match how often you hit.
Sticker or marker packs per year: 1 GolfCheck estimate
Club stickers and markers wear and get replaced. Most boxes include a first pack; we still count one pack a year to stay on the safe side. Change it if you only hit a few clubs.
Tablet, if you need one: $449 Fact
Cheapest current iPad on apple.com (iPad A16, Wi-Fi 128GB). Used only when a launch monitor needs a phone or tablet and you don't have a compatible one. Source, checked Sep 19, 2026.
