Should you replace your DARKSPEED LS Fairway with the Cobra DS-ADAPT LS Fairway?

The 13° 3+ is gone. Cobra lists the DARKSPEED LS in 13°, 14.5° and 17.5° — a 3+, a 3 and a 5. The DS-ADAPT LS is listed in 14.5°, 16.0° and 17.5° — a 3, a 3HF and a 5. The strongest loft in the line disappears and a 16° head takes its place in the middle. If you play the 13° as a driving fairway off the tee, the new generation does not have a replacement for it at any price.

The second thing to know: Cobra lists a movable weight on the DARKSPEED LS and lists none on the DS-ADAPT LS. As with the rest of the DS-ADAPT fairways, that is a gap in Cobra's own spec page rather than a documented removal — but you cannot fit around a weight the maker does not publish.

Head volume is published on one side only: 174 cc for the DS-ADAPT LS, nothing for the DARKSPEED LS. So the question of whether the low-spin head grew or shrank has no answer we can source.

The geometry barely moved. Lie goes 55.7° to 56.0°, length 43.0" to 43.25". The adjustable hosel widens from ±1.5° to ±2°. Both right and left handed. Stock shaft goes from a UST LIN-Q M40X White 7 to a True Temper Denali Black 60.

Cobra's claim changed shape slightly: driver-like distance from a titanium head made for shaping shots on the DARKSPEED LS, versus driver-like performance with low spin for shot shaping on the DS-ADAPT LS. Same idea, same lack of a number behind it.

Our read: keep the DARKSPEED LS, and keep it especially if you play the 13°. A third of a degree of lie and a quarter inch of length are not a purchase. The one genuine gain is the 16° 3HF, which is a loft the old line never offered.
