Should you replace your DS-ADAPT LS Fairway with the Cobra OPTM LS Titanium Fairway?

The OPTM LS Titanium is the first of the two with a published price: $469. Cobra publishes no MSRP we can source for the DS-ADAPT LS Fairway and publishes $469 for the OPTM LS Titanium. That is the only hard money figure on this page, and it is worth knowing before anything else, because the rest of the comparison is a near tie.

The lofts are identical: 14.5°, 16.0° and 17.5°, labelled 3, 3HF and 5. The lie is identical at 56.0°. The length is identical at 43.25". Both carry a ±2° adjustable hosel. Both are built right and left handed. Both are titanium heads in Cobra's low-spin slot.

Two things did change. The head grew 174 cc to 184 cc — ten cubic centimetres on the model Cobra sells as its compact shot-shaping fairway, which is a larger footprint on the club whose reason to exist is looking small. And Cobra lists a movable weight on the OPTM LS Titanium where the DS-ADAPT LS page lists none; it is a weight, not a track, so it is a fitting adjustment rather than something you slide between shots.

Cobra's own claims moved with it. On the DS-ADAPT LS: a titanium build in a compact shape, sold as driver-like performance with low spin for shaping shots. On the OPTM LS Titanium: the same low-spin pitch for faster swingers, plus a claim that the shaping and weight placement cut Products of Inertia so the head twists less on off-centre hits. That second one is a stability claim on the head Cobra previously sold purely on workability.

Our read: $469 for ten cubic centimetres and a weight screw, with identical lofts, lie, length and hosel. Keep the DS-ADAPT LS. The one case for switching is if you want a low-spin fairway that twists less, and Cobra's claim about that is Cobra's, not a measurement.
