The top of the set is unchanged and the bottom got a degree stronger. TaylorMade lists the Qi35 Max Rescue in 20°, 23°, 27°, 31° and 35°. The Qi4D Max Rescue is 20°, 23°, 26°, 30° and 34°. The 3 and 4 are identical; the 5, 6 and 7 each lost a degree. If you carry the 6 or the 7 to fill the bottom of the bag, the replacement is a stronger club with the same number on it, and your gaps move.
Neither of these has an adjustable hosel, which is what makes the loft change matter. TaylorMade publishes no hosel adjustment on either club, so what is stamped on the head is what you get — you cannot turn the Qi4D back to where the Qi35 was.
The head is 109 cc on the Qi35 Max Rescue and 106 cc on the Qi4D Max Rescue. Three cubic centimetres is not a difference you will see.
The stock shaft is the other real change: Fujikura AirSpeeder 25 becomes KBS REAX HL 50. A 25-gram shaft replaced by a 50-gram one as the standard option, on a model aimed at slower swing speeds.
Both are 40.75" at the 3, both sit at 59° lie, both are right and left handed, and TaylorMade lists the same $299.99 on each. That price is TaylorMade's, not a retailer's.
Our read: keep the Qi35 Max Rescue. Same price, same length, same lie, and it has the weaker lofts at the bottom of the set plus the lighter shaft — which on this model is the point.
